The French Cultural Center:
Forgotten Love Concert

Nélida Nassar  10.28.2012

The Picks of the Week:
The French Cultural Center: Forgotten Love Concert
Kirsten Xander: Jewelry Opening Show

Love is in the Air
Do not mis the French Cultural Center songs about Forgotten Love or Amour Oubliés by Poulenc, Liszt, Debussy, Milhaud, Bachelet and Gounot.

Soprano singer Abigail Krawson and pianist Bretton Brown will perform 19th and 20th century songs that explore the feeling of love through different stages of life.  This musical journey will begin in childhood with innocence, progressing with the adolescent hopeful love and finishing by the darker setting of lost love.

Soprano Abigail Renée Krawson that I heard most recently as L’Eternità in Harvard Early Music Society’s production of La Calisto will delight the audience with her fresh soaring timber and crystalline arias.  Her vocal technique and musicianship are impeccable.  She projects a warm voice with clear bright sound and tremendous power.
I look forward to hearing her in an all French repertoire.

Abigail graduated from New England Conservatory where she performed the roles of Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas, Miss Havisham in Dominick Argento’s Miss Havisham’s Wedding Night, and Pamina in The Magic Flute(Opera Outreach).
Ms. Krawson was a young artist with Boston Early Music Festival in the summer of 2011 for their production of Niobe: Regina di Tebe.

She received her undergraduate degree at Bowling Green State University.  There she was a part of the North American Premiere of La virtù dei strali d’Amore, in collaboration with Paul O’Dette and Eastman School of Music.  Abigail was also the first prize winner of the 2009 Dr. Peatee Art Song Competition at BGSU.  Most recently, she. won second place in the 2011 Boston NATS competition.  This emerging artist performs recitals and reviews in various venues in the Boston area including the historic Fanueil Hall, Old North Church, and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

The repertoire will be performed in French.
